AEG was retained by RIOC for a 3 year Term Agreement to provide professional A/E services on as-needed basis. This included, Motorgate Garage Concrete Restoration & Waterproofing.
AEG undertook a detailed inspection of the garage and provided their findings report to RIOC. Construction Documents were prepared by AEG based on their findings report. Restoration of the following components was undertaken after public bidding & selection of GC. AEG was retained to provide Construction Support Services on the project:
Pre-Tensioned T-beam joints that includes T-beam edge repair and application of Galvanize Cathodic Protection (GCP) system with BASF top coating.
Repair of spalled/ cracked concrete in T-beams and in concrete overlay with pressure grout.
Installed new T-Joint shear connectors (as existing metal shear connector has been corroded because of water infiltration) using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Laminates (CFRP) at all T-Beams.
Repair of joints between T-Beams entire deck.
Removed existing sealant on deck and provided new reinforced waterproofing system on parking deck, ramps, walkways, curbs and pitch pockets.
Provided new pavement markings per NYSDOT requirements.
Replaced all floor drains at all floors, provided new floor drains at water ponding areas and connected to the existing drainage system. Replaced existing corroded/ cracked/ broken/ dislocated drain pipes including elbows and fillings. Tested all drains for flow and leaks.
Repaired corbels and T-beam bearings that includes providing temporary shoring/jacking, cleaning existing bearing plates and apply anti-corrosive paint, repair deteriorated concrete in corbel and T-beam stem at bearing, apply Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) on corbels and T-beams.
Removed all joint sealant at all floors and provided new joint sealant.
Project was completed within the schedule time and allocated budget.
