Repair of spalled/ cracked concrete in T-beams and in concrete overlay with pressure grout.
Installed new T-Joint shear connectors (as existing metal shear connector has been corroded because of water infiltration) using Carbon Fiber Reinforced Plastic Laminates (CFRP) at all T-Beams.
Repair of joints between T-Beams entire deck.
Removed existing sealant on deck and provided new reinforced waterproofing system on parking deck, ramps, walkways, curbs and pitch pockets.
Provided new pavement markings per NYSDOT requirements.
Replaced all floor drains at all floors, provided new floor drains at water ponding areas and connected to the existing drainage system. Replaced existing corroded/ cracked/ broken/ dislocated drain pipes including elbows and fillings. Tested all drains for flow and leaks.
Repaired corbels and T-beam bearings that includes providing temporary shoring/jacking, cleaning existing bearing plates and apply anti-corrosive paint, repair deteriorated concrete in corbel and T-beam stem at bearing, apply Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) on corbels and T-beams.

    This assignment included assessment of the existing elevator shaft structure
    Provide details for new beams required to support new elevator machine.

    Condition Assessment of Corrosion in Structural Steel at
    Tish Hospital, 560 First Avenue, NYC

    AEG undertook assessment of the corroding steel structure supporting the screen masonry walls of the mechanical penthouse at the roof of the Tisch Hospital building (18 Story).

    AEG conducted a thorough assessment of the corrosion in the steel structure, connections and encased structural members. Encased structural members were observed by doing probes. Massive corrosion was observed resulting in cracks and displacement of masonry cladding/veneer. Spalled brick throughout the screen wall; cracking and de-bonding mortar; twisted metal lintels; deteriorated sealant, etc. These conditions may be due to possible corrosion of steel column behind brick encasement, excessive moisture in the masonry wall, cracking of brick due to differential movement.

    AEG provided repair details for structural members and provided Construction Support Services during the restoration project.

  • New York City Police Department (NYPD)
    Structural Integrity Assessment of Maintenance Shop at
    11 Front Street, Brooklyn, NY

    AEG provided structural integrity inspection, load rating and concrete repair details of 70,000 SF maintenance shop for New York City Police Department (NYPD), located on 11 Front Street, Brooklyn, NY.

    Structural Integrity Assessment:

    Inspection of 70, 000 SF two story building including concrete slab on grade, reinforced concrete ceiling and floors. Perimeter retaining walls, concrete encased steel beams and columns;

    Thorough inspection at critical locations using bucket truck and hammer for sounding the concrete and to determine the section losses in corroded structural steel members;

    Probes in concrete were conducted to determine the condition, spacing and sizes of re-bars in the absence of existing structural drawings;

    Report was prepared that include, plans to identify the locations of deterioration with photos.

     Load Rating of the Structural Elements:

    Subsequent to the probe in reinforce concrete slab & beams and concrete encasement AEG was able to identify the actual sizes of structural elements and re-bars;

    Based on these determination, AEG performed the load ratings and determine the load carrying capacity of the structural elements;

    AEG provided to NYPD, repair details with specification to bring the building into state of good repair.

    NYC Department of Environmental Protection (NYCDEP)
    Load Rating of FIVE (5) Structures at
    NYCDEP Water Treatment Plants in New York
    AEG provided load carrying capacity of new mezzanine floor as well as existing floors supporting these mezzanine floors at various NYCDEP plant buildings in NY.
    We base our assessment on the available structural drawings of the buildings. However upon verification of the existing conditions we discovered many structures were added later and the as-built drawings were not updated. We preformed structural analysis to determine the load carrying capacity of the additions.
    Load Carrying Capacity of Structures includes:
    Load capacity analysis, location plans/structural drawings and a summary sheet with allowable load limit for each of the thirteen (13) locations in five (5) buildings at the DEP Oakwood Beach WPCP – Staten Island, NY and DEP Red hook WPCP – Brooklyn NY. The analysis & load ratings were based on review of available drawings, engineering calculations and field observation:

    Main Building – At Oakwood Beach
    Sludge Storage Building – At Oakwood Beach
    Dewatering Building – At Oakwood Beach
    Maintenance Building – At Oakwood Beach
    Main Building – At Red Hook

    Based on the analysis AEG prepared report and submit to DEP in order to remove the violations from NYC Building Department
